A RING FOR LAURA JACKSON

A Ring For
Laura Jackson

The Brief

Laura Jackson—best known for her work as a broadcaster, tastemaker and founder of chic homeware brand Glassette—came to us with a vision for a bespoke MUM ring. She wanted something chunky, timeless, and unique, a piece she could wear forever. While she loved the idea of incorporating the word "MUM," she didn’t want it to look like a traditional mum ring. Instead, she wanted something more abstract and sculptural.

The Consultation

We first met in person in London to brainstorm ideas, continuing the design process via Zoom and WhatsApp. Initially, Laura considered a necklace, but we ultimately settled on a ring—something striking that would lift off the finger and feel substantial. Since Laura cherishes the word "MUM" and the way her children call her this, we wanted to emphasise the lettering in a special way. We experimented with different fonts, and Laura gravitated towards a clean, modern block style. To create a sense of movement, we designed the letters to graduate in size, starting smaller at the edges and becoming widest at the centre. I encouraged her to add a touch of diamonds, and we landed on channel-set baguette diamonds as a nod to our signature Art Deco aesthetic. Those were set into some of the U’s which were done in platinum, adding an unexpected contrast.

The Result

The final piece is a bold, chunky, and truly unique take on the classic mum ring. Crafted in 18-carat yellow gold with platinum accents, Laura’s statement ring features elegantly set baguette-cut diamonds, seamlessly blending modernity with sentimental value. Launched today, on Mother’s Day, this ring is an everyday reminder of love, strength, and the power of mothering in all forms. More than just a piece of jewellery, it is a future heirloom, designed to be cherished for generations to come.

Designing this ring with Laura Vann has been such a meaningful experience. I wanted something elegant, with a subtle nod to the greatest job - being a mum. 'Mum' is my favourite word, it's so universal yet only three people in the world can call me that. Inspired by Art Deco interiors, I wanted to combine timeless design with the purpose and strength that motherhood represents. The two-tone and baguette details make it feel so personal—I can’t stop looking at it! — Laura Jackson
